What JSON Diff Checker does

JSON Diff Checker compares two JSON documents structurally and lists every added, removed and changed value with its path (such as $.address.city). Key order and whitespace are ignored, and a side-by-side text view is available too.

How to use JSON Diff Checker

  1. Paste the original JSON on the left and the changed JSON on the right
  2. Click Compare JSON
  3. Read the summary of added, removed and changed values
  4. Switch between "Changes by path" and "Side by side text" views

Who should use it

Made for developers. Typical uses:

  • Comparing two versions of an API response to spot what changed
  • Checking a config file against its previous version before deploying
  • Debugging why two JSON payloads that should match don't

Limitations and accuracy

Arrays are compared position by position, so inserting an item near the start of a list marks the items after it as changed.

Accuracy: Output is tested against known inputs. For production code, review the result and run your own tests.

Frequently asked questions

Does key order matter?
No. {"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} are reported as identical.
How are arrays compared?
Item by item, by position. If an array is reordered or an item is inserted, the shifted items appear as changed.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The comparison runs in your browser.
