Converters
Converters translate a value or file from one format into another: a WebP picture into a JPG, miles into kilometers, a HEX color into HSL, a Unix timestamp into a date. Developers, designers, students and travelers use them daily. Each converter here names the conventions it follows and what it cannot carry across.
Files stay on your device
Image, PDF, Word, CSV, JSON and unit conversions run in your browser. Only the currency converter downloads public exchange rates.
Standard conversion factors
Unit factors are checked by automated tests against known values, such as 2.54 centimeters to the inch, and each page states its conventions.
Batches of up to 30 images
The image converters take up to 30 files at once, show the size of each result and offer a ZIP download.

Each group explains what its tools are for, so you can find the right one without scrolling a long list.
Move pictures between PNG, JPG and WebP, or re-encode them smaller. Choose lossless PNG for editing and transparency, JPG for photos, and WebP for compact web images. Every result shows its new file size.
Change the container around your content: PDF to Word and Word to PDF, CSV to JSON and JSON to CSV for spreadsheets and APIs, video clips to animated GIFs, and plain text to a shareable PNG image.
Metric and imperial conversions for travel, cooking, fitness and DIY. A general converter covers ten measurement categories, and quick pages handle the most searched pairs in both directions, from inches and centimeters to Celsius and Fahrenheit.
For programmers and students: binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal in any base, Roman numerals, and kilobytes to megabytes to gigabytes using the decimal convention, with a note on binary units.
Translate colors between the formats used by designers, browsers and printers: HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK, each with a live swatch so you can see the shade before copying the value into CSS or a design file.
Conversions that depend on rules or rates: exchange rates between currencies, meeting times across time zones with daylight saving, Unix timestamps in logs and APIs, and pixel values into em, rem, vw and percent for CSS.
Unit, color and number-base converters update instantly in both directions, so you can enter a value on either side and read the answer without pressing a button.
Transparent areas get a fill color you choose instead of turning black, sideways phone photos come out upright, and every result shows the size it saved or added.
The unit converter notes that cups, pints and gallons default to US measures and that storage units use decimal steps, so ambiguous units do not cause silent mistakes.
HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK, CSS px to rem, number bases with exact large values, Unix timestamps and CSV to JSON cover the small conversions that interrupt real work.
Pages say when a conversion is lossy or partial, for example that PDF to Word carries text only, or that a JPG cannot store transparency.
Unit conversions use standard international factors and are checked by automated tests against known reference values. Color conversions, number-base maths with arbitrary precision, time-zone offsets and CSV parsing have their own tests. The image converters draw your picture onto a browser canvas and export PNG, JPG or WebP with the browser's encoders, so lossless and lossy behavior is the format's own and sideways phone photos are turned upright first. The Word and PDF converters work on text and structure, and each page lists what it cannot reproduce. Conventions such as US gallons or decimal storage units are stated on the page.
It uses daily mid-market reference rates fetched from public rate sources, trying several in turn, and shows the rate with its date. Banks, card networks and transfer services add a margin, so the amount you actually receive will be lower. Check your provider's quoted rate before sending money.
PNG is lossless, which means it stores the pixels exactly as they are now, including any blockiness already created by JPG compression. It cannot restore lost detail, and the file usually becomes several times larger. Convert to PNG only when you need transparency, editing or exact copies.
JPG cannot store transparency, so those pixels must be filled with a solid color. The converter uses white by default and lets you pick another color, which avoids the black background some tools produce. Choose WebP or keep the PNG if you need to preserve transparency.
No. The converter reads the text of the PDF and rebuilds paragraphs, with a page break for each page. Fonts, colors, images, tables and multi-column layouts are not recreated. Scanned PDFs have no selectable text and need OCR first, and password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before converting.
The converters follow the decimal SI convention, where 1 GB is 1,000 MB. Some operating systems report binary units, where 1 GiB is 1,024 MiB. Each storage page carries a note on this, so you can compare like with like when checking disk space or upload limits.
Yes. It uses the IANA time zone database built into your browser and applies daylight saving for the date you choose, then shows local time, UTC offset and zone abbreviation. If you enter a time that does not exist because clocks jump forward, it tells you.
Standard Roman numerals use subtractive notation, such as IV for 4, and top out at 3,999 (MMMCMXCIX) because there is no standard symbol beyond that without overline notation. The system also has no symbol for zero or negative numbers, so the converter does not invent one.
