What Markdown Preview does

Markdown Preview renders GitHub-flavored Markdown as you type, including tables, task lists, strikethrough and fenced code blocks. The preview is sanitized so scripts and unsafe links are removed, and you can copy the resulting HTML.

How to use Markdown Preview

  1. Type or paste Markdown in the left panel
  2. Watch the formatted preview update on the right
  3. Check headings, lists, tables and code blocks
  4. Use Copy HTML to grab the generated markup

Who should use it

Made for developers. Typical uses:

  • Checking how a README will actually look on GitHub before committing it
  • Previewing a Markdown-based blog post's formatting before publishing
  • Verifying that Markdown tables, code blocks, or nested lists render the way you intended

Limitations and accuracy

It follows CommonMark with GitHub-style extensions. Site-specific Markdown extras (for example some platforms' emoji shortcodes or custom containers) are not rendered.

Accuracy: Output is tested against known inputs. For production code, review the result and run your own tests.
