Remove unwanted line breaks from text instantly.
Line Break Remover strips unwanted line breaks from pasted text, turning multi-line content into one continuous line or paragraph. It's especially useful for text copied from a PDF or email where every wrapped line became a hard break — choose whether breaks are replaced with a space or removed entirely, all processed locally in your browser.
Made for writers and students. Typical uses:
A three-line paragraph copied from a PDF ("This paragraph was copied", "from a PDF and has line", "breaks in every line.") becomes one sentence with a space as the replacement. With "Keep paragraph breaks" on, a text of two paragraphs stays two paragraphs, each joined into one line, and a list of red, green and blue on three lines becomes "red, green, blue" with comma and space.
Words that a PDF split with a hyphen at the end of a line stay split, so check for them. The tool joins lines but does not repair other damage from copying, such as missing spaces or odd characters.
Accuracy: Results follow documented rules and are tested with known inputs. Review the output before relying on it.
Expert Tip
Turn on "Keep paragraph breaks" for anything longer than one paragraph. Blank lines usually mark real paragraph boundaries, and keeping them means you do not have to rebuild the structure afterwards.
Text copied from a PDF, an email or a narrow column often arrives with a hard line break at the end of every visual line. Pasted into a document, a form or a message, it breaks sentences in the middle. The Line Break Remover joins those lines back into flowing text.
It handles Windows, Mac and Linux line endings, and trims the spaces at the start and end of each line before joining.
The setting that decides the result is what each break is replaced with. Take a short paragraph that was copied from a PDF with a break in every line: "This paragraph was copied", "from a PDF and has line", "breaks in every line."
If the text has real paragraphs, separated by blank lines, tick "Keep paragraph breaks". With it on, a text with two paragraphs stays as two paragraphs, each joined into one line, with the blank line between them. With it off, everything becomes a single block.
Words hyphenated at the end of a line by a PDF may stay split, such as "compres-" followed by "sion". Check the result for these, and fix them by hand.
After joining lines, collapse stray gaps with the Whitespace Remover, and fix capitalisation with the Case Converter. If you copy text from a scanned page, the OCR Image to Text tool reads it first, and PDF to Text extracts text from a PDF directly. Your text stays in your browser, so documents with private details are safe to clean here.
A PDF stores each line of text where it sits on the page, not as a flowing paragraph, so copying from it brings a line break at the end of every visual line. Columns, headers, footers and page numbers get mixed into the text as well. After joining the lines, scan for page numbers or repeated headers that landed in the middle of a sentence and delete them. A line break itself is one of three codes: Windows uses a carriage return plus a line feed, Linux and modern Macs use a line feed, and very old Mac files use a carriage return. The tool understands all three.
