Rotate PDF fixes pages that are sideways or upside down. Choose your PDF and every page appears as a thumbnail: tap a page to turn it 90 degrees, use the arrows under it to rotate left or right, or use the toolbar to rotate all pages, flip them 180 degrees or reset. The thumbnails show the result before you save, and the rotated PDF is created in your browser, so your document is never uploaded.
Made for everyone. Typical uses:
A 60-page scan where pages 14 and 15 came through sideways needs two taps: turn each 90 degrees to the right, check the thumbnails, and save rotate-report.pdf. Text, images and file size stay the same because only the orientation setting of those two pages changes.
Rotation changes orientation only; it does not straighten a slightly tilted scan, resize or crop pages. Thumbnails are drawn for the first 120 pages; later pages appear as numbered tiles that still rotate correctly. Password-protected files must be unlocked first, and files can be up to 200 MB.
Accuracy: Files are processed with established open-source libraries and tested with real PDFs. Open the result and check it before you send or publish it.
Expert Tip
If the top of the text points to the right, rotate left; if it points to the left, rotate right; if it points down, rotate twice. The thumbnail confirms your choice before you save.
Pages are sideways for simple reasons. A scanner fed a landscape sheet, a phone held the wrong way while photographing paperwork, a document exported with the wrong orientation setting, or a batch scan where some sheets went through upside down. The content is fine; only the page orientation flag is wrong.
Rotating changes that flag. It does not redraw the page, so there is no loss of quality and no change to the text, and the file size stays about the same. That makes rotation a safe, reversible fix.
Choose your PDF and every page appears as a thumbnail. Tap a thumbnail, or its arrows, to turn that page 90 degrees; tap again for 180 or 270. The thumbnail shows how the page will look, so you can see immediately whether it is now the right way up. The toolbar rotates all pages left or right, flips them 180 degrees, or resets everything if you change your mind.
This is much faster than typing page numbers when only a few pages are wrong. For a 60-page scan where pages 14 and 15 came through sideways, you tap two thumbnails and save.
A quick way to choose the rotation: imagine the top of the text. If it points to the right, the page needs turning left (counterclockwise); if it points to the left, turn it right (clockwise); if it points down, rotate twice. The thumbnail preview confirms it before you save.
Rotation adds to whatever orientation the page already has. A page that already has a 90 degree flag and is rotated a further 90 degrees ends at 180 degrees, and rotating four times in the same direction returns to the start.
Rotation fixes orientation, not slant. If a scan is slightly tilted, rotating by 90 degrees will not straighten it; you would need a deskew feature in a scanner app. Rotation also does not crop or resize. If pages have different sizes, Image Resizer and Image Cropper can prepare the pictures before you build a PDF with JPG to PDF.
A PDF page has a rotation value that is a multiple of 90 degrees. Viewers turn the page by that amount when they display or print it, without touching the content itself. This tool adds your rotation to the value already stored, so rotating a page that is already turned gives the combined result, and four turns in the same direction return it to the start.
Because rotation is a display setting, every modern viewer, browser and printer respects it. Very old software that ignores the setting would still show the page in its original position, which is one more reason to check the finished file in the program your reader will use.
Once every page faces the right way, you may want to join it with other documents using Merge PDF, stamp it with Add Watermark to PDF, reduce the size with Compress PDF or lock it with PDF Password Protector. Do the rotating first, because protected files cannot be edited.
The PDF is read and saved in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Thumbnails are generated locally for the first 120 pages; if your document is longer, the remaining pages appear as numbered tiles that still rotate correctly. Files up to 200 MB are accepted. Password-protected files must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
