SIP returns chart: what a ₹1,000 monthly SIP grows to

Computed by FreeToolsVerse · Updated · How we check our numbers

A SIP of ₹1,000 a month for 10 years at an assumed 12% a year grows to about ₹2,32,339, from ₹1,20,000 invested. Returns are not guaranteed: the table shows what a constant assumed rate would produce.

How to read these tables

  1. Pick the assumed yearly return in the top row and the number of years in the left column.
  2. Read the expected value for a ₹1,000 monthly SIP.
  3. Multiply by your monthly amount ÷ 1,000. A ₹5,000 SIP is 5 times the figure.
  4. Treat it as an illustration. Equity returns move up and down, and past returns do not predict future ones.

Method and assumptions

Formula. Future value = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the monthly rate (annual rate ÷ 12) and n is the number of months. Each amount is invested at the start of the month.

Assumptions. A constant return every month, no step-up in the amount, and no fund charges, exit loads or taxes. Actual market-linked returns vary.

Frequently asked questions

How much will a ₹5,000 monthly SIP grow to in 10 years?

At an assumed 12% a year, about ₹11,61,695 from ₹6,00,000 invested. At 10% it would be about ₹10,32,760. These are illustrations, not promises.

Why does the SIP value grow faster in later years?

Returns earn further returns, so the balance grows by a larger rupee amount each year. In this table most of the final value in the 20 to 30 year rows comes from growth rather than from the money invested.
