What Video Speed Changer does

Video Speed Changer makes a video faster or slower, from 0.25x (slow motion) to 4x (time-lapse), with presets for the common speeds. The sound is sped up or slowed down too while keeping its pitch natural. The new MP4 is created in your browser and shows its new length before you start.

How to use Video Speed Changer

  1. Choose a video
  2. Enter a speed multiplier between 0.25 and 4, or click a preset
  3. Check the new length shown, then click Change speed
  4. Preview the result and download the MP4

Who should use it

Made for creators. Typical uses:

  • Speeding up a long screen recording into a quick timelapse-style clip
  • Slowing down footage to analyze fast motion in detail
  • Creating a slow-motion or fast-motion effect for a creative video

Limitations and accuracy

Speeds are limited to 0.25x to 4x. Slowing a video down cannot add detail, so slow motion from normal footage looks stepped unless the original has a high frame rate. Files over 500 MB are refused.

Accuracy: Video is processed with the open-source ffmpeg engine running in your browser and tested with sample clips. Check the result before you share it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the audio change pitch?
No. Audio is time-stretched so voices and music keep their natural pitch at the new speed.
What is the slowest and fastest speed?
0.25x is four times slower and 4x is four times faster than the original.
How long will the result be?
The original length divided by the speed. At 2x a 60-second video becomes 30 seconds; the tool shows the new length.
How large a video can I use?
Files up to 500 MB. Very large or high-resolution videos can take several minutes because a browser is slower than desktop software, and they need free memory, so close other heavy tabs first.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is processed on your own device by ffmpeg running inside your browser, so it never leaves your computer or phone. The first time you use any video tool, your browser downloads the video engine once (roughly 10 MB) and reuses it afterwards.
