What Video Rotator does

Video Rotator turns a video 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise or 180°, and can mirror it horizontally or vertically. It fixes phone footage recorded sideways or upside down. The result is a re-encoded MP4 with the original sound, created in your browser.

How to use Video Rotator

  1. Choose a video
  2. Select the rotation or flip you need
  3. Click Rotate video and wait for it to finish
  4. Check the preview and download the corrected MP4

Who should use it

Made for creators. Typical uses:

  • Fixing a video that was recorded holding the phone sideways
  • Correcting an upside-down recording
  • Preparing footage for consistent viewing before sharing

Limitations and accuracy

Rotating re-encodes the video, so it takes longer than a simple copy and applies a small amount of compression. A 90° turn swaps the width and height. Files over 500 MB are refused.

Accuracy: Video is processed with the open-source ffmpeg engine running in your browser and tested with sample clips. Check the result before you share it.

Frequently asked questions

Which rotations are available?
90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, 180°, horizontal flip (mirror) and vertical flip.
Why did my phone video play sideways?
Some phones store the picture unrotated and add a rotation flag that certain players ignore. Rotating and saving a new file fixes it everywhere.
Is the sound kept?
Yes. The audio is copied unchanged.
How large a video can I use?
Files up to 500 MB. Very large or high-resolution videos can take several minutes because a browser is slower than desktop software, and they need free memory, so close other heavy tabs first.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is processed on your own device by ffmpeg running inside your browser, so it never leaves your computer or phone. The first time you use any video tool, your browser downloads the video engine once (roughly 10 MB) and reuses it afterwards.
