What Video Splitter does

Video Splitter cuts a video into consecutive parts of a length you choose, for example a 6-minute video into 2-minute parts, and lets you download each part or all of them as a ZIP. Choose Precise to cut exactly, or Fast to copy without re-encoding. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use Video Splitter

  1. Choose a video; its length is shown
  2. Enter how many seconds each part should be; the number of parts is shown
  3. Pick Precise (exact cuts) or Fast (no re-encoding)
  4. Click Split video, then download each part or the ZIP of all parts

Who should use it

Made for creators. Typical uses:

  • Splitting a long recording into two shorter, more manageable files
  • Separating a video into an intro and main content section
  • Breaking up footage for platforms with duration limits

Limitations and accuracy

A video can be split into at most 24 parts. Fast mode can only cut at keyframes, so part lengths can differ slightly from what you set. Files over 500 MB are refused.

Accuracy: Video is processed with the open-source ffmpeg engine running in your browser and tested with sample clips. Check the result before you share it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I split at one exact point?
Yes. Set the part length to that time: a 60-second video with a 20-second part length is split at 20 s and 40 s. For two parts at a chosen moment, enter that moment as the part length.
What happens to the last part?
It holds whatever remains, so it may be shorter than the others. No empty part is created when the length divides evenly.
Does splitting reduce quality?
Fast mode keeps the original quality because it copies the data. Precise mode re-encodes each part at high quality.
How large a video can I use?
Files up to 500 MB. Very large or high-resolution videos can take several minutes because a browser is slower than desktop software, and they need free memory, so close other heavy tabs first.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is processed on your own device by ffmpeg running inside your browser, so it never leaves your computer or phone. The first time you use any video tool, your browser downloads the video engine once (roughly 10 MB) and reuses it afterwards.
